Tomorrow is "Theme-less Thursday," and you can request absolutely anything you want (within reason). I'd seriously love any and all suggestions! Just post them in the comments below!

As requested by Trisha: Jim Carrey in his tuxedo from Dumb and Dumber. I based this off of a screenshot from the film. Erika said I probably spent too much time on this piece--mostly she thinks the paint is too beautiful for the subject matter--but I assured her it was worth it! I didn't have any official requests for Tangible Tuesday, but I did have a request from a friend on deviantART to draw an eye on the computer. I decided to draw my wife Erika's eye. I actually did the piece in color, but you'll have to visit it on deviantART if you want to see that! Tomorrow is Watercolor Wednesday! I'd love to hear your suggestions! As requested: Steven beating me at dodgeball! I'm not quite sure why you wanted this, but I hope it makes all your dreams come true! Today I finished the inks for a piece I'm doing for Erika. I also shaved my "beard" for her--she's going to be so happy when she sees it! Tomorrow is Fan Art Friday, so ask away! I didn't get any requests for Watercolor Wednesday, so Erika suggested I do a Cheshire Cat study as a prep for some paintings I'm doing for her office. I got a little crazy with the colors, but I had a lot of fun! Tomorrow is Theme-less Thursday, so you can request anything! Just post your ideas in the comments section below and I'll do my best to bring them to life...or um...you know...draw them! I couldn't find a good way to combine all of the monster requests, so I did two pics for Monster Monday! The first is my version of a Baku haunted elder tree for Devin, and the second my scary version of Cookie Monster for Steven (I also added Ian to this one as requested by Rachel on my facebook page). I know the Cookie Monster is kind of twisted, but I did base his pose off of a Goya painting!
I was slow at posting this week, so we'll skip right to Watercolor Wednesday as far as requests go. Let me know what you want in the comments below! Today's picture is my new version of Tantum Gray page 1! I've been working on it for a few days, and I'm quite proud of it! I'm thinking of redoing some other pages as well, but this is my first attempt so see if it will be worth it. I think the answer is yes. I've decided to try giving this blog a daily theme. That way you'll have an idea of what to expect from the art each day and you'll also have the opportunity to tell me what to draw. I've posted the schedule on the right side of the page. Monday's theme is Monster Monday, so leave any requests in the comment section of this post and I'll do my best to incorporate them into Monday's sketch! Hello! The recent holidays wreaked havoc on my "daily blog" thing, but here I am again! Thanks to everyone who has been commenting on these posts! It means a lot to me! To the right you will see one of my recent doodles. I also finished a piece for a contest yesterday that I posted on deviantART--just click here to see it. In the spirit of making this blog worthwhile to more people than just me, my question for today is: What can I change and/or add to these daily posts that will make them more worth your time? Thanks a ton! This little drawing is one that my wife Erika requested. She always says that the hardest thing for her to believe about Spider-Man is that he sews his own costumes--and I can't blame her for being skeptical! Another of my favorite art forms is animation! There are so many great movies and tv shows that utilize animation to tell fantastic stories. I could make a long list of favorites, but one animated tv series that I highly recommend is Samurai Jack. It features great creatures, robots, and aliens, creative uses of the medium, and it's also tons of fun! I'd love to hear what some of your favorite animated features are--whether tv or movie format. Thanks! I didn't have a lot of free time for art today, though I did draw during a nasty traffic jam on my way home from work. It was pretty dark and I only drew when traffic was stopped. It's not very impressive, but Erika says it goes well with my fortune--which I attached to the pic! Today's question is: Who is your favorite villain? This time it doesn't have to be related to super heroes. There are great villains in almost every story. I especially like the evil-mastermind types that scheme and watch from a distance and send their lackeys to do their dirty work. They also talk to themselves and/or monologue excessively. Maybe that comes from all the Saturday morning cartoons I used to watch. Skeletor from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is my absolute favorite, but I could list at least twenty other similar villains that I hope to be like someday... Apologies for my inactivity! It's likely you didn't notice, since few people are reading my blog! Thus, I'm going to start posting questions here to try and get some confirmation that more of you are visiting! The panel on the left is from the rough draft of a Tantum Gray page I sent to Steven today (+200 bonus points to Steven who already does comment on my blog! Hooray!). My art was a little slow last week because of illness, but I did draw another wild critter you can see at deviantART! Here is my question, which I hope you will answer in the comments and which I promise to respond to: Who is your favorite super hero? I have several answers to this question, but as a child my favorite was always Spider-Man! Needless to say, the trailer that came out a few days ago for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (thank goodness they decided against a cheesy subtitle) left me drooling on my computer screen and speculating wildly! Surprisingly, my wife Erika did not have the same reaction. Oh, well. At least I know she'll go and watch it with me on opening day! Here is a link to the trailer if you haven't seen it: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer And please tell me about your favorite super heroes! |
